Pressure washers

I am going to do some odd jobs for a little extra side income. For these i need a pressure washer. I have been doing research. Looking at the local stores and have found they are sky high for even the most basic gas powered one. So i decided to see how much a rental was it was 36.00 a hour. i have 5 jobs coming up at about 3 hours each. It would cost me 540.00 which is 40.00 more than the cost of the jobs. I am trying to save up enough money to make a deposit for Wyotech next year. I am trying to take Diesel tech. I have tried garage sales found mostly electric. Tried craigs list ( to many scams on there) . My last resort is my fellow friends at FTE .Do any of you know of a store with a good sale on them?Do You know of someone that has one for sale? I have seen a few in the local penny saver , but by the time the mailman shows up at 8:00 pm and i call they are sold. I am desperate. Jobs need to be done in the early part of December.

Thanks a lot.

Charge more for your work. There's some good deals on San Francisco craigslist right now. After you complete the jobs, sell the machine on craigslist. I have been using the site for quite some time and I don't find any more flakes there than in the general population.

I seen pressure washers at Costco. As I recall, they were fairly inexpensive there. Might wanna take a peek there before locking in on a purchase.

Hey,

I've been in the market for one myslef lately. I've found out so far that electric ones are about 100-150 bucks or so. Costco has 2, 1 electric < 2000psi for about $120, i think. They have an gas one >2500 psi for a little over $200. Those two are karcher brand. Sears has a small gas powered unit(briggs & stratton) about 2300psi for about $235 or so. Its a very small unit, kinda nice. It really depends on how much pressure that you need and how much area you have to clean. But you can really spend as much as you want to for one of these things. You'll find a million uses for these once you pick one up.

bryyce,

i ended up with the clean and carry from sears. it is on sale until 11/26 for 80.00 off so it is 199.99. it has a thermal relief, soap injection, quick connect nozzles, and a oil filled user servicable pump. it works great. my friend bought a CH power washer too. it is noisy, the pump over heats and the engine makes a knocking sound. i think he will be returning that and going with the clean and carry. i will warn you tho the clean and carry is very hard to find in any store. i went to 5 of them. only antioch had them. they had 2 i bought 1. or just get it from sears.com they have free shipping right now. i like the fact the pump is oil filled and is rebuildable. not like the throw away units used on most.

Gashog,

That's funny, I bought the same one, but the darn thing wouldn't start. Pulled on that sucker for an hour with no luck. I was tempted to bust out the socket set and start a rebuild on the thing. You know, bored .030 over, forged piston, moly rings, stroker crank, straight pipe, the works. But then the wife chimes in with "why don't you take it back?" Ruined my whole day. Anyway, it is still sitting in the box in the garage. Maybe bust it open next weekend. Glad yours worked out, hope mine does too.
Talk to you later,

gw

I bought mine off Amazon. Sales tax and shipping were free. I bought a 3400 psi, 4 gallon per minute and I love it. there are lots out there that have high pressure but without the volume of water it doesnt make things easier. It also has a regulator that you can adjust the pressure up and down. I have more than paid for it in doing jobs around the house and for freinds.
