Anyone know how to tell the year of the 4R70W? I am looking to buy a core but need to know how to tell the year to be able to get what I am looking for. I am looking for a 98 or newer. Anyone know how to decifer the numbers? Also, anyone know the part #s for the low ratio gear set in this tranny? Either one would help. All I want is the low ratio gear set. Thanks for any help....

there should be a tag on the side of the trans.it has the part # that you should be looking for.the tag you should be looking for should start with a F8??-7000-?? if there is a W on the side of the tailshaft that means its a wide ratio trans.that is the only ratio diff.between the 4r70w

Thanks a bunch for the info.... Would you happen to know where exactly is the W on the tail shaft ( driver side, bottom, on top, etc...) and how big a letter to not get confused with something else? Also, would you happen to know the part #s for gears incase the tranny is torn apart and I need to pick out the parts? Thanks for the info...
