did the c6s come in big block and small block patterns or are thay all the same. i thought they are diff but i saw an add for one and he advertised fits 351 to 460. also are the 2wd c6s adaptable to a transfercase if the long tailshaft is removed? thanks

Yes, you can get a C6 in both of the big block patterns plus the small block pattern. I’ve heard that they can be adapted but you have to use the shorter output shaft so you have to dig in there.

yes they are correct there are 3 different tailshafts for the four wheel drive application
why do you ask are you building somthing or replacing a tranny the 2 wheel drive tranny the tailshaft is smaller in diameter so to put a 2 wheeldrive tranny against a transfer case you will need to change the tailshaft we need to know what you are doing to answer some other questions about length and adapters and linkage

well im converting my 2wd to 4wd and im trying to sort out the trans mission deal. i have a 460/c6 2wd. i bought a c6/np205 job out of a 79bronc 351. i would like to use my trans. because it has recently been rebuilt. i "heard" that i ditch the long tail and it should bolt to the transfer. and if that is not the case are all the c6 made to mate up to all the blocks. this is a fuzzy area to me thanks for all the help.

you can bolt a c-6 to almost anything the only problem with swaping tailshafts is you have to gut the tranny to do this swap sorry you really wanted to hear that

I'm also planning on using a C-6 in my engine/tranny swap that I'm getting ready to do in my '79 F-250. It has a I6 with an NP435 and I'm going to put a fuel-injected 351 with a C-6 from a '90 F-250 that's 2wd. I've heard about the modifications I'm going to have to do to drop in the 351 but was still wondering what all I'll have to get for the tranny to bolt up to the NP 205. Does anyone know of any aftermarket company or place i can find this shorter tailshaft at or will I have to spend weeks looking through junkyards?
