You should pull the codes to find out why it is coming on. Any time the check engine light comes on, it should store a trouble code that you can read by counting blinks of the check engine light. I would advise him to start with just checkin codes. Sensors fail, big deal. You could go to Ricefarmers extreme and slap a new cratey in but that could get costly, and even disappointing, especially if you find out a $50 sensor was giving you grief.
