Just finished fixing the plenum door on my 1998 Ford Explorer,it was a breeze, hit it the first time. The only problem I had was putting back the screw in the front of the actuator. After some scraped knuckles I finished the job.It took longer to put back that screw than fixing the door.I can now control the heat, just in time for our great Canadian winter. Thanks a million for everyones help.Saved me $1000.00.
Make sure that the actuator isn't the problem before you do the blend door fix. I went ahead and had a mechanic buddy put in a whole new heater box, which was needed. It still didn't completely fix the problem. Turns out that the actuator was also bad.
