Front End Problems
Tomorrow will be my 3rd visit to the dealer for a front end check. The truck runs straight in the right lane even with a pretty good crown but takes both hands to hold it in the left lane if there is even a slight crown. I don't have a way to accruately measure the pull but it seems to take more effort to turn right than to turn left.
When the truck hits a bump, especially in a turn, the steering wheel gives a pretty good shake. The last time the service department switched sides with the front tires to correct the shake and the time before they rotated the tires to cure the same problem. Each time the tech has worked on the front end the tracking has improved but it seems to be more pronunced while pulling a trailer.
The cruise control surges as much as 8 mph and the transmission shifts while running with a lightly loaded trailer (4000# total) @ 55-60 mph. The transmission will down shift or unlock the converter on a very slight grade.
I have not complained to the service department but have an appointment with the service manager tomorrow morning. I am going to take a trailer loaded with about 8000# and drive him down the interstate.
I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has experienced and
successfully solved these problems.
