I'm in the middle of a fluid change on my 95 F250 PSD and the last tranny service the dealership did they used a cork gasget and I am wondering if it is alright to reuse this or should I put on the new cork gasget that the new filter came with. The old one looks new and isn't maked up. I remember reading in one of these threads that it was allright to reuse the rubber one but I guess they desided to get rid of it last time. Thanks, Todd
Your truck should have had a reusable rubber gasket on it. It is a metal gasket with a rubber coating. I have heard (don't quote me on this though) that using a plain rubber or cork gasket can distort the pan thus causing leaks. You can get a new reusable gasket from a dealership for around $15.

IF THE STOCK GASKET is not leaking then reuse it. never ever use a cork gasket. it will let you down very quickly.
