strange "klunk"

I have a 2003 Excursion XLT Premium, with 23,000 miles, V10, in excellent condition.... anyway, about 20 sec. after I start it, I hear a loud single "klunk" coming from the front passenger side area.... it happens everytime I start it up cold.... it doesn't happen after I restart it when it's warm.... the noise sounds the same when I'm just sitting there in park before I drive or after I start moving.... the other day, a passenger (I usually drive it alone) said they could feel it through the floor board when sitting in the passenger seat.... very strange indeed.... anyway, I'm not too concerned because it's still covered under warranty.... anyone have an idea?????????????

It's a valve opening or closing. There are other strings about this and don't rembember for sure what system exactly is doing it but mine and others have always done it. You'll get used to it, it's not a problem.

vaccum building up closing the vent flapper. Happens with A/C when on then you start the truck after longer sitting time.

fire rooster is right. its the flapper door that controls where the air from your a/c system comes out. either through the defroster, floor, vents, defroster and floor, and so on..
