I am trying to replace the 90 degree hose from the water pump to the oil cooler on my 92 F-250. There is about a quarter of an inch between the water pump outlet and the inlet to the oil cooler. I worked on it 3 hours tonight and can't get the stupid hose on both sides at once. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

If you can not get it on then you have two ways to do it.
1. Take off the Thermostat Water Outlet Connection (Oil Cooler), put the hose on both the Thermostat Water Outlet Connection (Oil Cooler) and the Water Pump and then try to put the Thermostat Water Outlet Connection (Oil Cooler)
back on without letting the Thermostat drop out, need to glue it in. The bolts are hard to get to but it can be done.
2. If you can not do #1 then you would have to take off the Water Pump or the Intake, big and bigger jobs.
I know some Ford manuals are calling the Thermostat Water Outlet Connection Gasket on a 351 an Oil Cooler Return Tube Gasket but I think they are wrong.
The Oil cooler Connection is on the water inlet side of the Water Pump from the Radiator down by the Oil Filter.
I dunno from oil coolers, but many older cars had by-pass hoses that were very close. Us old mechanics would fold the hose double, and start both ends at the same time. The tension of folding the hose will distort the ends and help get them started over the nipples. Push hard and wiggle it a little. Some sealer might lube it too. Good luck.
Claybe, did you ever get your 90' oil cooler hose on?
I am trying to do the same thing on my 93' w/460.
Just can't get that hose on. Here is what I have tried.
- Folded the hose as suggested. I can get both ends to partially start, but no go after that.
- Removed oil filter to gain better access.
- lubed ends of hose w/ silicone grease
- I even went and bought a second hose of a different manufactuer that had a thinner wall thickness hoping it would be more flexible
I've been doing hose changeovers on cars for twenty five years and this thing has me stumped.
