I know Ford must have published truck weights somewhere, and I want to know if anyone has a book or something that tells the weight of a 78 F-150 shortbed 4X4 with a 351M/C-6/NP-205.
Does anyone have a similar truck that has been weighed at the gravel pit or highway weigh station??
i bet any weigh scale will wiegh it for you, and if im not mistaken your insureance says the weight on it. i know mine does. it states curb weight for my 78 300 6 4x2 as 5500kg
i know our trucks arent exactly the same, but my lonbed f-250 listed below weighs 5820 lbs on our local dump scale, with me, half tank of gas and about 100 lbs of tools in it, the difference in our trucks is my tires weigh a little over 100 lbs a peice, i have a lwb, and my dana 60's probably weigh a little more than your 9 inch and dana 44
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Feb-02 AT 00:01 AM (EST)]My 77 shortbed 4X4 with 351m and c-6, np03 weighs in at 5,200 pounds last time i weighed it. I weigh 200 lbs so 5000 would be the wieght of mine. I do have a cross box tool box and tools in there too though. Almost forgot, my has no a/c.
i drive a truck and i would NOT recommend useing the weigh scale that are for 18 wheelers that you see out on the interstate. i've seen people get a new @ss torn pulling into the scale like that. some state troopers may be willing to do it for you but i'd just go to a gravel pit and ask them. if they want more then about 8 bucks to do it go to a truck stop and use a certified scale. they are usually $7.50 for a CAT scale.
Wow 5000 pounds seems really light comsidering that the new Lightening weighs 4800-4900 #s (can't remember the exact weight).
I figured that with a straight axle up front, cast iron T case, and a pretty heavy engine it would weigh alot more than the Lightening.
My 2wd 79 f150 regular cab long bed with a full tank of gas a extra tailgate in the bed and a spare tire weighs 4200 without me in it.

I have weighed my truck before cant remember what it was now but I just went on a Sunday because the scale is closed then, at least here it is. So that way its free and I can take all the time I want and not have a 18 wheeler on my A#$!
'79 with 3" lift, 30-33 gal. of fuel, 35's on alum. rims, tools/parts and hi-lift jack, chains and straps, full size spare, 460/C-6 and nobody in it scaled at 5120 lbs., surprised me, didn't think it would be over 5k!
