I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer Explorer. The check engine light is on, and when getting the state inspection, the tech said it gave a code other than emissions, so it passed...but he could not say what specifically was the problem.
When started cold, it barely idles and wants to die unless you feather the throttle. I am assuming it is a high idle/cold idle valve or solenoid. Once it gets warm, it runs fine except for the check engine light.
Does anyone know what it might be or where to look?
Iwould get the vehicle scanned for the code!let us know what the code is and we can
help from there.
After thinking about this I'd get it scanned first.it could be a vacum leak (unmetered air in the intake )
Yes scan it first.
