I can't take the constant squeal coming from the power steering pulley anymore. Can I just rent a puller from a local store and replace it? Do I need any special tools to press the new pulley back on?
yes, but i dont think just replacing the pulley is going to do it. i think the pump has to be changed...as for reinstalling i think it presses on with the bolt that holds it on

Really? I can usually quiet the squeal by spraying a little WD40 on it - for a little while anyway. Whats the best way to tell - pull the belt and check for dragging?
Don't use WD-40 on belts. That will cause it to slip and only make the problem worse. Spray down the belt with the engine running using some non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. Use the better portion of a can, spraying where the belt meets the pulleys--get all the ones you can without getting into the fan! Then take the belt off and use a wire brush and more brake cleaner to clean off all the metal pulleys. Now put the belt back on (use a new one if the old is questionable). You may also need to replace your belt tensioner, or it could just be that the PS pump is bad and leaking onto the pulley a little, or something else is.
No, I'm not spraying WD40 on the belts, just on the pulley shaft. I was able to quiet the squeal by cleaning the pulley with brake cleaner and a new belt. Good recommendation!
