through window cb antenna placement
hello all, got a quick question, most likely a dumb one. none the less, i'm hauling material from quarry's and needed a CB to communicate with the operators. i bought a inexpensive midland and i needed a antenna. for convenience and ease of installation i bought a through window antenna. was this a bad idea? not enough coaxle cable to mount it anywhere. any suggestions or comments would be a help.

Take it to Radio shack and see if you can get an extension for it. When we were using those antennas at work we found the best place for them was on the top right side of the windshield, just below the tint. If the tint is green, you can mount them in the tinted part. This is because the grey tints are metallic, and willl block part of the signal. If you are getting out of the truck I'd look into a portable unit and or cell phone for safty reasons. The quarry may be required by law to provide wireless communication while on premises.
