Last night while driving my truck something really weird happend that is a new one for me. I was driving along and the truck died. so i restarted it, it started fine from 500-1000 RPM's as ushual. but i was having to hold it there, if i let my foot off the gas then it would die, watching my tach i noticed that when i let off the gas it just let off until it died. It wasnt a problum because i can hold it at 500 and keep it running. so after a couple more minutes of doing this i shut the truck down again and restarted it. the problum was gone and it was idleing fine. anyone know what was goin on? thanks.
BTW when it started doing this the truck was warm (190 degrees) and had been running for about 10 minutes.
hey,
that sounds just like what my friends pickup does, its an 86 F-150 w/a 302, but we just figured it was somehting with the fuel injection because it dosent have a carburetor. mine was dying earlier this winter because once the engine was warm (this is on my 79 F-100 w/a 302) i would kick it down and the choke would just shut and kill the engine....i dont know what caused that but i turned my idle down a little bit and it hasnt happened since.....sorry this probabaly dosent help much.

I will bet that it is an ignition problem with the module. If I use my old module it will warm up and die but once you turn the ignition off and then on it would work fine for a while. Then I had a 86 F-150 with the distributer mounted module. Sometimes when your on the road the truck will die and then catch and be fine. Once it did leave me on the side of the road for a few moments.
