I get about 16mpg high way, I personally think this is great compared to my other trucks(1992 F150 w/5.8L 350CID, 2000 Super duty 6.8L 415CID) besides it's a truck, what did you expect 30+??
yeah, really....21 mpg.....and your complaining......i get 18 and i feel blessed.....i know people with little crappy S10 gettin 14.....i'v found out that fords arn't that bad on gas.......
Some of you are talking miles per imperial gallon (Canada) and comparing it to miles per US gallon (which is 0.8327 of an imperial gallon). 18 miles per Imperial gallon is equivalent to 14.4 miles per US gallon......
I have to keep this thing,as i just about have everything replaced in the past 3 years.I looks new and runs good, but then i have about 4 grand in it.Trans,ign,brakes,4 whl.drive.not much to do before i have a new one.But gas millage is 12mi.pr.gal........Have nice holidays
I would take 20 also, i am getting around 15 or 16 with my 4.2 five speed..... i also like to use the 4x4 everyonce and a while. It would help if i let off the pedal
I have a 98 F 150 4x4 extended cab 4.6 with a 5 speed city/hwy mixed 650km/400 miles to a tank, don't know what the tank hold, been keeping my eyes closed with the price of gas these days. (80L /20gal average fill)
23mpg Canadian gallon................20mpg USA.
I had two 98's, both with the 4.6L. The standard cab got 21 mpg regularly on the highway, 16 in the fields.
What did you do to get such great mpg on that truck. I have a 97 f150 regular cab 4.6 that only averages 13-14 on highway and 10 in the city. I don't drive it too hard either.
I used Royal Purple 5W-30 synthetic and a K$N filter, plus a bed cover. My tire pressures are always kept on the higher side of the pressure range. I do not let my vehicles idle much at all. My mileage was mostly 16 mpg, as I spent more time in the field than on the highway. My definition of field is a combination of corn field time with the highway time in between. My fields are spread out by 4-5 miles at a shot.
Now, I currently drive (for work, not by choice) an 05 Chevy 2500 with an 8.1L. I can't get better than 13 with that, and I have tried everything. I generally get around 11, but this isn't bad considering the HP and weight.
