I just bought a new (to me) 1995 F250 with the Powerstroke and an Automatic. I was wondering how long these are supposed to take to warm up and what temperature they are supposed to run at.
My truck's factory temp gauge is non-functional so the last owner installed a mechanical gauge. It takes what seems like forever to warm up and never goes over about 180-190 F. Is this normal? I have no frame of reference as this is my first diesel.
Also there doesn't seem to be a high idle when it starts. It starts and runs a little rough at about 600rpm until it warms up and smooths out.
Thanks in advance for any help given - Peter
The last deisel I had was back in the early 80's, had the same problem and was told that deisels are notorious for not making alot of heat. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, perhaps a post in the deisel forum would yeild better results.
Good luck
Tim
