Hi All,
First timer on this site, I've read all the heater posts and a little confused,
I have a 1995 F-150 P/U the hose coming into the heater core is very hot
the return hose is hardly warm, I tried to flush with a garden hose I seem to get some flow do I replace the core or is something else a possibility.
Thanks in advance
ps very little heat coming out turn on fan it goes cold

Same thing is what happened to my truck last night. Today I brought it to school and flushed the coolant system. I now have heat. It is great.
First you have to cut the hose that doesn't go to the water pump and install a flush T. Open the petcock at the bottom of the radiator and remove radiator cap. hook hose onto the flush T and let the water flow like crazy for 15 min with the engine running. Stop engine let all the resting water drain. Turn the water on again for 15 and let the engine run.
Disconnect the hose, close the petcock and fill the radiator with antifreeze with the engine running until it is full.
O, yeah it isn't the heater core it is air in the cooling system. If flushing it doesn't help hook a coolant pressure tester up and see if it holds. If not you might have a leak or a blown head gasket.
One caution - do NOT flush the motor with hose water while it's hot. Hot metal parts coming in contact with cold water = cracked hot metal parts. Not good.
Flushed the cooling system, problem still there. No leaks in system.
If anyone has any other ideas I sure would like to hear them. If not will let everyone know how the heater core change out went.
really appreciate the info on this site and the I received.
Have a great day all
Bob
Did you hook a coolant pressure tester up to it and made sure it had no minor leaks, possibly a head gasket?
One other thing my teacher said. If you take off the hose that goes into the overflow tank, stick it in a clear pop bottle with some water in it. Turn the engine on and if it bubbles your head gasket might be bad.
