"Adopt a Soldier"

In the first one, you can scroll through lists of soldiers (organized by branch of the military) and send care packages to someone who doesn't have much family/support coming his/her way. Many of the soldiers will tell you a little about themselves and provide a list of most needed items. Some have electricity and access to a kitchen, others don't; so the lists vary quite a bit. With the holidays approaching, this is even more important than ever.
The second link goes to another organization that started out the same way and continues to do so much for our wounded warriors.
Beef jerkey is another big one for us atleast. Forsome reason everybody sends gum, not too highly sought after, but appreciated none the less.
I'll tell ya first hand, those packages from total strangers are a huge moral booster. If you do one where you package stuff up on your own take the time to write a little note with your email address. A woman did that for me when I first got here and her and I email quite often. I was tickled that she took the time to do that for me and she was real suprised (and pleased) when I emailed her my thank you. That was over 9 months ago and we still write to each other.
You have no idea how much things like that mean to us, thank each and every one of you who participate in these kind of groups.
