question on tranys

while i am waiting to order my truck f-350 4x4 w/6.0 psd i keep seeing problems with the auto trans and i am wondering if there are any problems with the 6 speed stick. Also how many people are running the stick in new trucks?

the only issue i see with the auto trans is people trying to modify for more power than what they were designed for. the rest seem very well built.

Not many problems with the TorqueShift tranny, like ford390gashog said only people who add too much power have problems.

The 6-speeds are also very good and durable, a little better for towing also.
I went with the Auto for my truck and Im happy with it, it is a very strong tranny and performs great.

That is partially true but there sure were a lot of 5R110 transmissions recalled and funny the pause during the initial shift, the long flare and eventual slipping without ever engaging seem to be common to all of them, chipped or not. Mine left a 34,000 it was chipped and it flared bad even before the chip and had the delayed engagement hot or cold.

Well... Ford must have slipped a tuner on my brand new 05 last year when I grenaded the torqueshift at 1300 miles.
There was a recall on some of the transmissions regarding the planatary gears wearing the transmission. My New transmission has proformed great and I now have 22,000 miles on the truck.
It does seem that the stick shift trucks are getting a little better MPG

I have the 6-speed, a little knotchy when it was new and when it is cold out. The tranny seems to be getting a little better. I would definitely lose to an auto in a race.
