I have a65 f350 with 352.if the engine is warm and say you turn it off for afew minutes it is slow turning over and hard to start.if it sits for about ten minutes or longer it will turn over and start fine.wonder could this be the carbuerator float sticking?
NAPA's quality has gone downhill over the years on thier rebuilt stuff. I'd get another starter from them. Tell them it's getting hot and starting hard. You can also take the air cleaner off before you start it when it's hot. Look into the top of the carb and see if there's a strong odor of fresh gas. The carb could be leaking some gas into the intake when you shut off the engine.

Funny you mention that, Barry. I've noticed that over the years, too. The explaination I've received (and it sounds plausable) is that there's only one or two companies in the country that rebuild most of the electrical components for our cars and trucks. I guess that means that the starter bought at NAPA is the same as the one from CarQuest, Champion, O'Reilly's, etc. What do you think?
You could be right. THey may just box them for ever wants to buy them. All I know I went thru 3 starters for my 89 F-250 and 4 rebuilt alternators from NAPA in a very short time. I had to buy a brand new alt. from NAPA to solve the problem. There was only $20 difference between new and rebuilt. My truck now behaves itself. As far as advanced or Pep boys, they should sell zip lock straps or velcro to install their stuff. Easier to remove and exchange. The only thing I buy there is oil and filters. My mechanical stuff is genuine Ford now, since I'm working at a dealer again.
The parts clerk told me once several years ago that the starter for my 300 had alifetime gaurantee.I told him however i did not want to spend the rest of my life crawling under the truck changing the starter. They average lasting about 3 years.I have replaced the starter about 5 times since owning that truck.
I had a Pontiac that ate starters, too. And it didn't matter which brand I used. Cheapie, good house brand, AC Delco, whatever. Chewed 'em up and spit 'em out. Wonder if perhaps some vehicles just have different tastes.
I Found A Way To Fix My Starter Problem.sprayed Water On Cooled Off And It Cranks Everytime.guess I'll Have To Crawl Under It Again In The Morning.it Will Surely Be Cold.but At Least I Found The Sales Receipt.just Put That Starter On In August.
