So what's different here than what GM just came up with? Sounds like both revolve around the the "X" plan discount. NOT as generous as the employee discount plan?
They re-juggled some rebates too. FMCC bonus cash disappeared on most models, but Focus rebate went up to $1500, 500/Freestyle SE/SEL to $2000. Ford incentive matrix has some errors on it gee, what a surprise but I'll update after they correct it.
x-plan usually runs 200-300 below inovioce. the big key to x-plan is that there is no doc fee from the dealer. most dealers doc fee runs around 300+/-. so x-plan is more like 500 below invoice.
it would be interesting to find out what if doc fees will be included in the new simple plan.
In reality this is not that good of a deal. . .especially if they lowered rebates to compensate for it. Before this you could have gone to Jeff or Polarbear and bought a car/truck for $500 below invoice plus rebates. . .I guess all this does is give one price for everyone, so people feel better about paying the same as their neighbor. . .
There ya go- kind of a wash. For the general sheeple, it's a fair deal. For informed consumers (eg- you), it went backwards, because both Jeff and I are real modest on doc fees (I'm $50, I think he is too). What's really going to hurt is they did it without giving trade-in prices a bit of time to recover. The reality is, for a lot of folks trading late model stuff, their difference figures actually went up with all the aggressive incentives.
A Plan and X Plan buyers should also check into loyalty rebate of $1000.00 on Expedition (Must show Proof of recent ownership with 30 Days to qualify).
Another $1,000 rebate for A Plan and X Plan retiree (Dealer says can be used by immediate son or daughter) and should be requested at the time the PIN Code is requested from Detroit. I have to call Monday and see if I can still obtain this additional discount code. They will not tell you this is available unless you ask for it.
Jeff Or Polar may have additional or better information on these rebates that differs from what I was told by my local dealer.
Keep it simple appears to be $100.00 below X-Plan price from the invoices I looked at. This is also how the sales people are presenting it.
A & X Plan buyers still get better pricing.
The Ford Credit and Rebates ($6,000 Total) on the 2005 Expedition are still in place in the S.E. in addition to the Keep It Simple Pricing.
This information is based on my purchase of a 2005 Expedition as of 11/19/05, your results may vary.
Richtor,
Dealer doc fee's had not changed for the Simple Plan Pricing per the finance person I talked to. They charge right at $300.00 at my local dealer also.
