Torque Converter Lock Up
I HAVE A 99 EB EXPY AND SOME TIMES MY TORQUE CONVERTER WILL LOCK UP, AND THE TRUCK WOULD STALL IN DRIVE, HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM. aLSO I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAPPENS ALOT WITH EPEDITIONS, AND CROWN VICS.

there is a shuttle ball in the valve body that is suposed to shut off fluid during certain conditions.its prbably chipped and seats sometimes,then when the ball seats on the seperater plate with the crack ,fluid is still being applied to the torque converter circut causing it to stay engaged.

the valve body has to come out and the seperator plate has to be removed.yes the ball can be replaced.look for a good trans shop.at least one that a close freind or family member has used and had a good job done
