Overhead trip comp...again

I was reading the thread about putting a computer into the Expy when there was none before. And it got me thinking...

I have an 02 XLT Sport with the overhead, but it's only the compass and temperature. Do you think it would be possible to swap in the fancier trip computer? Should it just "plug and pray", or would I have to run wires and such?
I haven't taken anything apart yet, but logically, it seems like they would use one wire harness, with just different displays.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bill

While I do not own a 02, I am pretty sure that like previous models, the compass is self contained and only requires powers sources for internal functions and display illumination. On the other hand, the temperature sensor gets external temps from a temp probe mounted in front of the radiator which may make things easier as far the info center module is concerned. I recommend you do a lot of research - such as laying your hands on a Ford Service DVD (check Ebay) - before you spend any money on parts.
