sounds like sinus if its worse when you lay down... im not a dentist, but i play 1 during the day. no quick cures bud. get it chk'd.... it's not worth the pain
Ok, I'm pretty sure it's not cavities now. Because my teeth doesn't feel any pain when eating hot/cold, sweet/sour food. And I have good dental hygene anyway.
Amazingly, the pain is not just limited to my right molar. Now it seems to be my right ear too. I actually have ear ache, and a little headache.
i had problems earlier this summer. a filling fell out, so without insurance i just tried to eat on the other side til i could afford a dentist. the tooth kept cracking away... and i finally got rot at the base of the tooth. out of nowhere, the pain started. felt like i got hit with a sledge hammer. i had to drink myself to sleep two nights in a row until i could get a doc appointment.
i finally found a place... $160 bucks or so to pull the molar... and i couldnt have asked for a better solution. theres a nerve in your jaw... that can make the pain travel a long way- my lower molar was the problem but... i thought i needed an upper molar pulled too... its amazing how the pain can drive you insane....
have you been flossing the area??
ive noticed if i eat popcorn... and a few days can go by and ill have the WORST tooth aches... if a piece of popcorn gets in there for a few days... big problems
BTW, until you can get it looked at, Ibuprofen works much better than tylenol or aspirin for this type of pain (watch the drinking). You can't always see a cavity or a crack.
BuiltToughF250 is right about the pain spreading/hard to pinpoint, my situation was identical. It was also worse when I laid down. If it's "killing" you, then it sounds more like a tooth infection.
My wife has just been going through this, her wisdom tooth was growing in sideways, and actually put a hole in her jaw bone, had to have it surgically removed today. It would be well worth a trip to the dentist.
A couple weeks ago, my wife thought she had an ear infection due to some pain in that area. She had a dentist's appointment last week in which the dentist informed her she had a cracked tooth and needed a root canal. She got that yesterday. Post and crown come early next year sometime.
BTW, if there's a dental school in your area, you might try going there, it can save you up to 50% or more. My wife's root canal would have been $900 locally, but an hour away at the dental school, it was less than $300. She also needs another tooth removed and an implant put in. That will be about $1600 versus $3000.
I'm sure hoping my tranny doesn't go out anytime soon...
Man oh man I hear ya I broke a tooth two days ago think you can get someone too look at it as a emergency noooo! not even my own dentist witch he is not now!Monday the 21 at 9:30 am is the only time someone will see me out of like ten I called and three I went to see I hope my dentist rots in hell.
Unclehan, just from experience, if it only hurts when temp. change or substance touches it, it might just need a filling. If it hurts anyway that usually means an infection in the roots, this requires a root canal/removing the nerve ends. If it's a deep throbbing pain, I would say you'll likely need the root canal. Again, I'm not a dentist, just what I've experienced.
Also ditto on the Dental school. My work has been well under half of what a dentist would have charged me. It seems top quality, though the scheduling can be a little frustrating (at UT San Antonio anyway, still way worth it). Chicago has one if you're interested.
