Well the 300 I6 makes a heck of a farm truck engine, when I bought my 95 for doing farm chores with that was the engine I insisted on it having, and I loved it, and it did see some time in the errrr "mud" going in and out of my feedlots.
With that said 300s are not that good for dedicated mud trucks, mud running such as drags or bogs its all about wheel speed. Almost all other types of offroading can really benifit from the torque.
and for oil I run RP type 41, and have been using NAPA gold filters on everything I run including the race truck, and love em (they are made by WIX, and one of the best filters IMHO)
