This is my first time to be on this forum. I have to hand it to the ford motor people. I purchased my current F150 XLT half-ton pick-up truck on March 3, 1996 from Jerol Hopkins Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in Covington, Tennessee brand new. I have been driving 61.2 miles one way to teach at a high school in west Tennessee since August of 1996. That is 612 miles a week just to and from school, not counting my other driving errands. That averages 2,448 miles a month. Do your math, I have over 282,000 miles with the same engine, alternator, water pump, thermostac, etc.. The beauty of this is, beleive it or not, I have the same battery. Yes, the original Ford battery. Of course, I have changed the connecters once due to corrosions. This battery has boost a lot of other vehicles that can't seem to take care of themselves. You know, the other guys that can't back up their bragging rights. I also own a 2001 Taurus SES that my wife and I love. A nice riding car that has taken us to Texas numerous times. Thanks for letting me get this off of my chest. I have been wanting to tell the world about my truck battery. Happy motoring!
Yup, same here. Just changed out the battery in my wife's 96 Windstar. Wasn't dead, but it was cheaper to replace it than let it die and strand her somewhere. Let's see $60.00 battery one time or $400 car payment monthly. You decide!
