Ok guys I know when I first bought this truck I posted some probs. with it...well now that I'm driving it more and more and have put about 4k on it...I love it..!! Though I've noticed I have right under 140k on the truck and from what I know is the stock tranny...she is dry as a bone and doesn't leak a drop but seems that when u take off with much throttle and boost at all...it shifts way to fast through all the gears til overdrive...and sometimes it will even skip what I think is third gear...Now even towing and normal driving babying it...it does not do this...but even when it gets into third if you bairly even mash the throttle it shifts out...Could this be a electrical problem of some sort or trash in the fluid...I plan on flushing it this weekend or early next week..What do yall recommend as the fluid to go back with...as far as filter and gasket i was going to use whatever the local carquest carries...is that ok? Any help would be appreciated guys...This site has been a huge help thus far!!!
I would start by replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor in the rear differential. The ECU looks to that for a signal for quite a few things, such as when to shift, not just a speedo signal. It's real cheap at around $20.00.
yes, i agree with the Sonnax valve and tricumulator springs kit. it firms up the transmission and makes the shifts crisper. i think all 4r100 transmissions should have come from the factory like this.
when you go to get a filter, make sure it has the deep neck, the 4 wheel drive models have a deeper pan, and need the longer pickup neck. yeah, and the stock gasket is the best out there, it is a rubber-over-metal design which is far superior to the cork gaskets. i pulled the filter out of the WIX box, and left the gasket in it, and threw it in the dumpster.
i'd be careful. my tranny was acting a little funny and I installed the sonnax to try and take care of the problem. IT DID, worked great for 2 days and then the tranny quit all together.
I'm gonna try this speed sensor first...then next week sometime I will change the fluid and filter..I mean this tranny is the stock i think and has almost 140k on it...So I will try this and then I may try that sonnax...where is best place to order them from..?? thanks
