If the conversation remains intelligent and interesting and hasn't degraded into a flame fest, then NO.

If the conversation has gone way off line, is just throwing cheap shots and is no longer even about the original topic, then YES. Not necessarily discouraged, but lost interest would be more appropriate.

What do you mean if it remains intelligent? I can't think of a thread on here that has turned into flaming. This forum is extremely mature IMO and even when people try to be funny here I find it's pretty lame. I think it's a great forum for what it's for but as far as entertainment this site could be better.

But when there is 5 pages or so I do get discouraged.

Go to the Ford Vs. the competition Fourm, thats what BFR is talking about...more than likely.

If theres around 3 or 4 pages than I ususally wont post, cause I dont feel like reading 50 posts to see what everyone has said, then finally post.

if Ive followed the post then I'dd continue reading, but if its a 50 page long post, it had better be real interesting (like the one on the pirate forum) or i'm not gonna open it.

pizalm,

Apparently you misunderstood what I wrote. But, unfortunately there are threads here that turn into flame fests, usually they get shut down pretty quick. Usually it's 2 folks that have differing opinions (which isn't a bad thing), who can't agree on anything and then the mud slinging starts.

And yes, it does happen here. Not necessarilly this particular forum, but it does happen and it happens more frequently than you think. Try having a Ford vs Competition discussion, or Gas vs. Diesel, or old vs. new, or when an immature individual pokes his head in to start trouble.

Yes, my friend the flame fests do happen, and that's when the INTELLIGENT conversation goes out the window.

If its longer than 3 pages, then I usually wont post, unless is on a subject that I feel strongly about, or have a lot of knowledge in.

I basically have a mild form of A.D.D., so anything over 15 posts, I'm not even gonna bother...

I'm discouraged from even reading a thread if there's more than about 15 or so posts in it. Unless I've been following along from the start, it just takes too much time to get "up to speed" in the thread.

I guess I did misunderstand but I've yet to see a flame war here or haven't noticed it cause it was alot more mature compared to the other forums I frequent where it will boil down to people dropping f-bombs and threatening to knock each other out. I've also haven't gone in the Ford vs. Competition in a long time, I know who the best is

as a person who just joined this forum i have to agree with pizlam that this board is really really tame compared to some that i have been on. not saying that there aren't flammers out there just saying that it seems to be a lot more intellegent conversation than some of the other boards that i have been to.

oh and for the question, the length of a post doesn't bother me at all. i will ususally read any thread no matter how long it is because you never know what kind of helpful information you will find out.
