My redline in my mildly modified 300 is 4500-5000rpm I have .308 I belive, and with 29" tires at 65-70mph im at 2600-2700rpm... Maby in need a different speedo gear?
I've got just the opposite problem. My sunpro tach says my 1977 400 engine with stock long block can hit 6500 rpm. Most poeple say these engines would grenade by 5500, if that high.
My 86 F150, 4x4, np435, is a beater. Basic rattletrap. Pulls 4000rpm, but then mines broken in. Yours only has 200K on it.
I yanked the carpet after going through some high water. It's drying out under the Baja sun. I guess I should go back and get it. Might help with all that noise when I hit 4000rmp.
I have spun my 300 to 5000 rpm several times without grenading it. I don't drive it that way. I usually shift @ ~ 2500-3000 rpm. I shift high due to the huge gaps between gear changes in my NP435.
i drive an 96' f-150 with a 300ci with a 5 speed manual tranny on 35's with 4:10 gears. i just installed a autometer tach in my truck and i have hit up to about 4,700rpm's. when im boggin through some mud it will hold it all day long.
3000 rpms and that 300 will be roaring. there's no better word for it.. i did a burnout once leaving a gas station and brought the speedo up to 40mph(that's tire spin) in 1st and i have the 3.55 in the pumpkin. dont know what the RPM's equate to on that but it was much higer that 3000 rpm..hehe..she didnt seem to mind however

haha.......... "sweeeeeet."
You guys need to get rid of those ugly "Sunpro" tachs and get a real tach, Autometer. Or even better, the factory one! DUH! I've had my EFI-6 up to 4500RPM with the OEM tach.
3000RPM IS NOT redline although it may seem like it, hah.
