I have seen the FE CrossRam go for anywhere between $400 to $850 depending on condition...and the complete set-up with Carbs and linkage for $1600... I know one Guy right now that has one with Carbs for $650 but the carbs need a rebuild, and the Intake needs to be media blasted...
wow i made a good purchase i bought it at a garage sale for $50 i hot tanked it and blasted it already my neighbor works at a machine shop, if i were to put this on a 390 with ported heads and a +.030 bore what kind of carbs should i run i was thinking two holley 350 cfm carbs
From what I've read here, you're better off with two carbs just smaller than what you would run for a single. So, for a hot 390 where a single 750 would be good, you'd want to run a pair of 600s. I know it sounds crazy, but it appears to be the norm.
Sounds like you got a steal. You'll need some good flowing heads, high compression ratio, headers/duals , and a big cam to make it all work well.
Well depending on port work on the heads, choosen Cam, you could run a set of 600 holleys a mentioned buy greg, Or if you run a wild Cam you could step up to 650's...
Hell depending on the head flow and cam you could probably get away with a set of 550's
JMO....
And by the wat congrats on the score of the crossram!!!
even if by some miracle, he sold it to me for $76, it would still end up costing me thousands :-) That "Might as well" mentality would take over. Might as well get those heads ported while the intake is off, probably ought to upgrade to that 541 roller cam and of course I'd need another BG SPeed Demon 750 Carb :-)
if i'm gonna run two carbs i may as well by a tunnel ram... if i'm gonna buy a tunnel ram i should just buck up and get a 8-71.... oops almost forgot, now i need a second NOS kit for the other carb.. better get another fuel pump so i don't starve the motor... LMAO
I don't know if i'd call it a sickness cuz you can usually cure a sickness, better call it a disease!!! LOL
