carbs

hi, i was just wandering what you would recomend for a carb. on a 400 on my 79 ford......would you rec. gettin a bigger 2 barrel such as 500 cfm or so or getting like a 650 cfm 4 barrel i want power i dont really care whcih one runs better on my engine...or would you rec. different carbs then are listed ........thanks a bunch .......kevin

THis is probably a day late and a dollar short, but how will you use the truck? Do you flog it by doing burnouts and racing ricers, or is it a daily driver/commuter? If you really want a bigger carb, a holley 4180 off of a 302/351 from the 80's will be a good carb for you (575 CFM), and a dual plane manifold. This is just my opinion. These motors are tough to wake up without infusing lots of cash so beware that you might not get an extra 200HP by changing carbs. BTW a 500 CFM carb will kill your low end torque (IMHO)
