Some of your questions will be answered here on this thread, not all, but some as it's a '65-'72 series 300+c.i.er. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...light=Flashman

ON your speed density equipped engine, you can trash the catalytic converters and you will not get any codes, nor gain much in the way of performance by doing so.

The inline functions much like any other engine.

Port work to the head is good.

Camshafts must be reasonable, as to maintain a certain vacuum level to keep the speed density computer happy. If a company sells cams for a v-8, chances are they have one for your ford 300.

You can get headers from any well known company that offers something for a v-8, however, unless you get them from clifford performance, you will have to weld in a bung for the O2 sensor. You will have to modify your existing exhaust piping and alternator bracket, no matter which header you choose.

The problem with the speed denstiy engine is this, if you build your engine to produce a hp level that exceeds the limits of the stock injectors, then you run into a problem. Whats usually done next, people install larger injectors and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, what follows is poor mpg and frustration. Ideally, you would contact a chip company and have them work with you on getting your computer set up to understand the changes made.
