Just did a brake job (whew!) and want to put the hubs/rotors back on. What is the torque specification on the axle lock nut thing? I would imagine it has to be correctly tightened for the bearings to be seated properly..
Yes it does. I don't know what the factory calls for, but I just tighten it until there is no play in the bearings and the rotor will spin around without too much effort.
snug it down till it is tight , back it off 1/4 turn , then just barely snug it back up, that sets your preload. make sure you bend the locking tabs over if its a 4X4 and put the cotter key in if its not,bob

I've got the spring loaded nut, which requires you to push it in and turn. Not sure I saw any locking tabs, but there was a tab on the nut that fit into the groove on the spindle.
