ok guys i need your in put here im going to build a 351 windsor for my truck i was wondering how i could get over 350 hp ond at least 400 ft lbs of torque out of it if you guys would give me some feedback i would appreciate it i am going to be building on a budget just lemme know ok
stroking would be the easiest way to get that kinda power. you can piece together a 393 with the proper crank, 351w rods and 302 pistons. get the block bored .30-.40 and get your heads cleaned up a bunch. if you can spring for aluminum heads then that would be your best option. once you have that part figured out think about what your using this for and find the proper carb/intake setup along with proper cam from CompCam for instance.
To get over 350 hp and over 400 ft lbs torque in a daily driver 351W you will need to stroke it, but that's alot more than a budget build up. Watch out for compression. You could easily end up needing 95-100 octance gas. gt40p heads are real good, just up size the valves to 2.02's and 1.60's if you stroke the motor. Then get the gt40p headers. Comp cams extreme 4x4 cams are awesome without rough idle even above the .500 lift mark. Use a dished piston!!!
you would not have to stroke it. if he was to run afr heads and good cam and proper intake/throttlebody and a .30 bore along with a 9.5 compratio he could get there and still run pump gas. but it would be flywheel rated not rearwheel rated.
p heads are ok but why bother when the aftermarket offer so much more. plus you must run special headers for those heads.
