I am getting ready to take the stock rims and hubcaps off my 78 F-150 and would like to change to an eight or ten inch rim.
Can anyone tell me how to figure out what tire size fits an eight or ten inch rim? I would like to keep the height the same, but just change the width.
Be sure to measure the backspacing when shopping for new wheels and tires. Don't trust those generic rims which will say what vechiles they will fit; check it for yourself. Make sure the rims/wheels won't rub anywhere or you'll have problems.
Do you remember what the backspacing is? I've got the money to order my rims, but my wife has had me running the past few days and I haven't had a chance to measure it.
I got my Holley 2300 carb today and can't even put it on yet. There oughta be law.
Do you happen to remember what the backspacing is on the rims. I have the money to order the rims, but my wife has had me running around the past few days and I haven't had time to measure it yet.
I just got my brand new Holley 2300 Carb in the mail today and I can't even mess with it yet. There oughta be a law......

I just recently did this, March 16th. I went to three differnt tire stores and got three different opinions about what size they would recommend. I went with 15 x 8 rims and 31 x 10.5 x 15 Long Trail TA BFG's.
I got the American Racing Outlaw II rims from Pepboys and the BFG's from Sam's club. $615 total with the tax.
I think it looks great and rides sooo much better than the beat up skinny old ones.
