Unhappy Does your TorqShift downshift hard?

Just got back from a 400 mile trip, just the truck, no towing. My torqshift is downshifting hard when slowing down to 10mph. Its never done this, granted I only have 2600 miles on the truck, but it always shifted smoothly when down or up shifting.

Other than that seems to be OK. No problems with the upshifts and no slippage.

Any idea's??

Oh, and my oil leak is back... Go figure...

hard downshift

I just got back from a 8000 mi. trip pulling an 11,000 lb. 5er. I have a Predator installed in the towing mode and three times in a row when I would decelerate to a stop the trans. downshifted very very hard, so much so that I took the Preditor off and took the truck to a dealer because it seemed that the trans would be ruined if it kept that up, but could never get it to do it again. Hooked the 5er back up and went on my way and a couple days later, I re-installed the Predator and have never had that problem again. What gives here? Ihave pulled 5000 mi. since with no problem.

I suffered that problem before the tranny went the first time. The EPC is probably going south.

On the way to work in the morning I drive down a ~450 ft hill with a stoplight partway down the hill just around a bit of a curve.

I use the T/H mode to hold back the speed going down the hill. I have to be careful on cold mornings (40s here ) when there is dew or rain on the roadway if the light changes and I have to hit the brakes. The tranny braking is hard enough that it can cause the rear end to slide a little.

Usually I just pop it into 4HI if it's wet before I round the curve just in case the light changes. That keeps the rear from getting loose.

I should note that this is just firmer than the usual tranny braking I have when the truck is warm and that the tranny does not slam into the downshift or anything funny.

Sounds like what you guys are experiencing is much more violent.

It's funny mine used to jerk real bad when downshifting from 2nd to 1st. Now it shifts perfectly. Haven't had it to the dealer at all. Just started using it on a empty truck more and now it works great. Go figure.
