I've got a '98 E250 with the 5.4 and it won't blow any hot air. Here's a little history. First it stopped blowing cold with the a/c on then it stopped blowing period so I checked and replaced the blower motor which now blows on the 3rd position only or on "high" if i can get it to rest just off the "click" position in the switch. I can get the air to blow from the def, dash, floor and mix but it just won't blow hot. It's a fleet vehicle and I wasn't the normal driver for this one so I have no idea how well the fan worked before or on what positions but I do know the old blower motoer wouldn't work in the van but does work on the bench off a battery charger. My goal is to get it to blow hot air and it would be nice to have the fan working on all the settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On most Fords when the fan settings do not work it is usually the resistor pack (looks like a little metal spring) that is bad. Sometimes you can take them out and fix them carefully with a soldering iron (search on FTE for this - been covered before). Otherwise it is the switch itself (unlikely).
Thanks rebocardo, I have read that here on a lot of posts but none of them told me where to find it. Any idea where it's hiding on this van? The fan does work on two settings but you have to get the control **** to rest between the positions to get it to do so. I'd like to get a good look at the back side of both that and the temp. control **** but I'd need to have more info. on getting the dash apart.
On most Fords it is under the hood on the black housing that holds the heater core/evap. and is inline with the fresh air that passes from the cowl. Where it is on a 98 van, I have no real idea. Except it usually has three wires, is square, and held on with four tiny screws.
Thanks again rebocardo for the input. I had thought I had identified that part and your description confirmed it. I also believe I have the culprit for the heat issue identified as well. I'm guessing it's the common blend door problem but I believe this van has a slightly different set up then what I've seen in the other posts. Under the pass. side dash is the outer cover for the heater core box and behind that is the heater core itself and behind that is the door assy. But this one is on a frame set up that appears removeable if one wanted to remove the heater core to get at it. This makes the drilling and pinning procedure much easier except for the procedures invoved in removing the core itself which looks like quite a chore. This is a fleet van and not driven regularly everyday so I'm going to jury rig it wide open for now and I'll price out the new door assy. and if not too expensive I'll replace it in the spring; but I just might drill and pin the new one when I install it just to avoid any future problems.
