Has anyone tried to put a navigation system from a Expedition into thier Superduty? If not but you have one, which System do you have and how do you like it?
I don't know much about the navigation systems but I can try and throw out a few ideas.
First, I would go to the library and get some of the alldata wiring diagrams and see if there is any information on the superduty and expeditions as far as the entertainment and navigation systems go.
Then, I would go to Ford and talk to one of the techs and try and get some information from them. They are usually the most knowledgable since they work with this stuff every day.
I have a full blown comptuer mounted below my console. Touch screen and GPS to name just (well) two. I chose this method because I have more needs for a computer than just navigation. I like it ALOT! Check my gallery for more info.

Reason: ...
I have the Eclipse 5495 with the 30GB hard drive. I love it. I have a backup camera for the truck that comes on when I am put it in reverse (or when I want it to) and another for the 5th wheel that I can turn on anytime I need it. I can store music on the hard drive so that I don't have to switch cd's all of the time. The navigation is awsome, easy to use, lots of features.
You guys get lost alot? or just like spending $$
Your keeping those foreign country's in bussiness.
He who dies with the most accesories wins!!!!
I'd rather buy beer or fishing gear .
I feed the fishy's and burn boat gas
Have fun

I have a Kenwood DDX7017 and DV4100 Navigation. It is the Double din unit with DVD built in. I love it. I have had it for the last 2 months while I have been traveling alot ant it works great. Just my .02.
Rich, ??? You must not get out much. We travel alot and my co-pilot (wife) was not so good with maps. Plus, my navigation has a sexier voice. "Foreign country's in buisness"??? Have you ever noticed where most of Fords parts come from? Who says you can't have accesories AND beer??? To each his own. I like options.
Gwiz ,you need a new copilot ! (not really)LOL!
I do alot of traveling, but i read a map prior to my trips.I'm talking country's that supply the usa with electronics gadgets that you guys are buying not superduty's (canada, mexico,)
I was just poking fun ! to pass the time .
I like options too!
Rich
There are so many of these systems out there that I just dont want to get something that doesn't work too well after spending the money on one. That's why I like this forum, you guys always give good feedback.
Thanks mistercmk. The batteries are dead in the digital camera. If I remember after I get 'um I repost here.
evilwunn - any electronic device is certainly prone to failure, especially if you load it with Windows. I would not call my system reliable, although it has been very reliable for me. What I mean is that there are so many variables for a system like mine, it difficult to get it perfect. I believe in tools made for a specific job, not the ones that will do many. The reason I went with a full blown computer is for real time billing/invoicing for my business. The GPS, XM Radio, DVD player, MP3 player, etc. is just bennys of having to deal with a computer.... If all you want is a Nav system - don't do what I did.
I think I’m leaning towards the Pioneer AVIC-N2, it seems to be more of what I’m looking for. Thanks for all the input, I’ll let you know what I end up doing.
