Some guy by the name of "Safetywest" was in the fte chat room with me and asked me what year did Ford make the first dually. Sounds like he wants to convert his F250 Extended Cab 2x4 into a Dually. He sounded like a noob and didnt know where to post. Anybody with some info im sure he'll appreciate it. thanks
Yeah, like Kahuna said, the first dually pickup that had the box with built in wide fenders was 1980. But Ford has been making the 1ton dually chassis for alot longer.
I bought a used 1959 F350 Long narrow bed step side truck off a cousin who bought it from the original owner about 1972. It had a 10 foot factory bed and dual wheels 18.5 with fenders. The GVWR was 14K. I had a hard time finding tires for it and I think they only had 5 or 6 lugs. This truck was all original and I havnt seen another like it.
30's eh? I have seen some 50's and even 40's. . .but 30's. . .that would look kinda cool
Actually, down in Pungo there is an old farm truck thats a F600 class cab n' chassis. The frame, tires and suspension just dwarf the cab Don't quote me on the series, but it looked to be a late 40's/50's cab.

i think there were duallies back in the model T days.....
Don't know if this was a joke, but since I saw quite a bit of stuff on the model t the other day I'll just go ahead and say a few things about that.
The Model T started in 1908-1913 sold for $850, in a few colors. After assembelly line was being used from 1913-1927or so was sold for $295, in only black, and a couple different models(runabout, roadster, ect...) All came with same chassis and 4 cylinder 22HP engine.
i'm not jokin, i don't know if the T's ever came factory with dualies, but there were other trucks of that era, with duals. i know i've seen pics of T trucks with duals, but they may have been aftermarket, like the tracks, and ski's for snow travel
i saw a 1923 ford 1 ton truck in a parade that had duallys.where i live now is an old mining town and this year in there parade there was a 1924 ford 1 ton truck with duallys
LOL,
you guys took it way back, nice work thanks for all the information. My dad use to have a 1979 F-250 Camper Special 4x4 with a nice lift on it. God I loved that truck I was a sad kid back then when he sold it. That truck was the reason why i became a Ford man. I think one day for my fathers b-day I may just buy him that same truck all over again restored and lifted the way i like em
