USB Head Unit?????
I have a iriver h10 20gb mp3 player and I want to hook it up to an aftermarket usb head unit. I was looking at the Audiobahn A1200n but I recently emailed them asking if my player was compatible and this is the reply I received: The USB port is for use with small thumb drive type flash stick. It will not work with large external drives.
I then looked up the item on ebay and in the description it was telling how you can hook it up to your ipod...
????? I'm just really confused right now. So my real question is: Is my iriver compatible with any USB headunits? I really want to connect it through the USB because its perfect sound quality and my player will charge through the USB. This eliminates the need to run a power to the player. Sry for all the questions I'm just really confused.
Thanks
And as always...this site is awesome
Reason being the mp3 player is using the USB port or a computer in order to upload or download files. The HU only reads files from a USB drive. There's no electricity going to the USB drive in this case, only tiny voltages which break down the mp3 code in order to bring it in as data. There aren't going to be any USB headunits that work with your mp3 player.
Give me the eBay item number and I'll see what they're trying to tell you. BTW the USB isn't perfect sound quality either. There are ways to hook up the mp3 player but not with USB.
If your not able to connect to your ipod through USB then this seller's page/product is very misleading. The player even has an ipod logo on it. ?????

USB Input: The A1200N has a front-panel USB input that allows you to play MP3 and WMA files stored on small USB flash drives
