What do you guys think? Seems like it may be nice to stash some things up there - initial price is only $75, is it usable with just the base set up? I'll never add a DVD system to it, maybe I'm better off saving that money.
To be honest, I really never use the darn thing. I have just the basic unit that came with my truck and store a spare pair of glasses in it. I have toyed with installing a DVD system, but can't bring myself to spend the cash just yet.
i like mine. i've wanted one since what? 98 when they had the digital compass. in mine i have my truck's log, a pair sunglasses, and a contact lens case, and a pen.
never use mine at all, the original brochures are still in there. too bad it doesnt slide back and forth. 75 bucks isnt too much and the headliner looks naked without it.
I have it in mine. I added the Metro package which holds my sunglasses, cell phone, and DVDs (for the DVD player that hangs between the front seats that the kids watch on long trips).
Stevenw - I searched on this topic last night and I swear I saw a picture of an XM Radio insert for the system. There was a guy who works at Johnson Controls (maker of the system) who looked like he used to post once in a while. I seem to think he mentioned tha they were working on one - but that post was probably a year old.
jdew, I remember that post also but if my memory serves me correctly he had made that prototype for himself.
I have the basic setup in my 04 screw and use it only to hold one pair of shades. It would be a nice place to add the dvd but too much green for the amount of use it would receive. Personally I think the rail is a waste. I like the one large compartment up front but that's all I need.
As far as I know they all slide. Just pull down on the plastic release on either side and slide it anywhere on the track. If the price for the additional "pods" was cheaper, I would add more.

It looks as if it should slide but it is not intended to. Sorry I can't remember where I read it but they are designed to use the release buttons and remove it and reinstall it where you need it. If you slide it damage to the headliner could occure and that's what almost happened when I tried to slide mine.
That's why the individual compartments lock by overlaping as opposed of clipping together while on the rail.

Ahhh.... When you said you wished they would slide, I didn't think you knew they moved.. LOL
Slide probably isn't the best word to use. Yes, they definitely need to be lowered slightly before you "slide" (move) them.
I have the sun roof in my truck and absolutely love it. It's especially enjoyable this time of year. I just turn off the A/C, roll down the windows and open the sun roof.
I had an aftermarket sunroof put in with the overhead rail system. I believe mine was the first truck they had installed one in here locally. Took them a week to do it, but it turned out great, I still have half a rail system behind the sunroof where I could fit a dvd player easily.
