Was there a extra long wheelbase 2WD ever made? I could swear there used to be a mid 70's F250 or 350 2wd around here with the rear box wheelwells either closer to the tailgate or the box was longer.It seemed like it had either an extension on the front side of the box or my friend says that was a swing-out spare-seems like it was a Camper Special,also.Heck,maybe I'm just gett'n senile.

No, you are right. I'm not exactly sure of the years, but some F-350 Camper Specials have the extended wheel base. I believe the wheelbase is 144" for a regular cab long box as opposed to 133" for the same truck with a non-extended wheel base. I think it was extended to accomodate the swing out spare tire on the passenger side front of the box. If any of this info is wrong, someone please correct me.

F350 Super Camper Special debuted in '73. I don't know when they stopped, but it wasn't popular. They had a 140" wheelbase, regular cab. The bed and cab is unique to the Super Camper Special.
