I think Ford actually recommends 5W20 for all the V10's. I know my owners manal (2000) calls for 5W30, but a service bulletin was issued recommending the 5W20 retroactively.
Side note: Remember when it was universally accepted that 10W40 was crap and not to be used in anything? Still is thought of in those terms, I believe. Anyway, the reasoning was that the 10W40 had too much viscosity modifier in it to get the 4:1 ratio. It was argued that you should never exceed a 3:1 ratio and thus the 10W30 oils were in vogue. Now people will recommend the 5W30 oils (with a ratio of 6:1 !!!) and not bat an eye. What gives?
