It must be a front end part but I have no I idea what or where it goes. The seller sells a lot of '48-52 parts and says this is a "Front end "anti shimmy" kit" for "1948-52 1/2 ton , 3/4 ton and 1 ton F-series line". I have never heard of it, that doesn't mean it's not on my truck but I don't reconize it.
Bob - You've got everybody stumped. I'm at a loss to see the functional benefit of something like this. I assume you've been through the parts book with no success. That assumed, they could be aftermarket pieces. Stu
At first I thought it was one of those Snake Oil things. Then I find it in the Parts Book, with Numbers that relate to the steering wheel and Horn Parts.
Prezactly, That Anti Shimmy Kit
PS: Hey Bob maybe ya better invest in a parts manual, save the rest of us alot of time.

I jst finished completely disassembly my truck, which was essentially complete except for the metal that mother nature remove for me over thapst 35 years. I did not have one of those on my truck.
I wonder if it was something that was installed by the dealer if you were having a problem with an unstable front-end. Anyway, it's interesting.
Even tho the parts shown align with the inventory from 4tL8's book, I wonder if these are some helper sping clips that someone put in a anti-shimmy box? They look like the kind of clips that are used to hold "booster" leaf springs (Add-A-Leaf) to a stock spring. Otherwise, all I can think of is that they would keep the front spring leaves lined up, how that would prevent shimmy???
It was not installed from the factory. This was a kit used in a service bulletin to cure a shimmy in the front end. If a customer complained about a problem, this was installed to cure the problem.

Was it used to replace one of the U-Bolts on the Axle?
I've seen some references for T's/A's of axle anti-shimmy device
The springs look like the ones under the radiator, which are basically valve springs, but this is something else. I haven't had a chance to look through my parts books but I would like to see a drawing of where these go.
There isn't any pics for this, I'm not 100% sure of it's location, But it may replace one of the u bolts for the spring. My boss has a big book of 40's-50's service bulletins, so I'll try to unravel this mystery. I'll keep you posted.................
Why does the link for the eBay posts get rewritten? When I click on the link I have posted in my first post in this thread I am sent to "The page cannot be displayed" page. The "ebay.com" is replaced with "dpbolvw.net/4j116shqnhp4A7A8554AE575BE?". Is this another diabolical plot of the administration at not allowing non sponsoring links?
