i was thinking of putting aluminium diamond plate in my bed and possible wrapng it up the sides and over the rail a bit. has anyone done this and where sould you go to have it bent on that 45 degree angle?
I was thinking the same thing. I know that Reliance Steel stocks the aluminum diamond plate and would probably break it for you to. Call the Reliance store on Jefferson and Osuna not the main center down on 8th. the Usuna store stocks the specialty metals, the main store is all steel.
You might try Choice Steel down on 2nd street also.
There are a couple of other places, Marco Steel or Metal Supermarkets. they should all be in the Albuquerque yellow pages
You should also see if your metal supplier has a shear to cut it to the sizes you need. If they don't have a metal brake you might try a shop that builds race cars as they usually have one for building their sheet metal parts. I have seen it used on the bottom and sides but only to where the angle starts on the sides.
i have seen it done but personly i think it is a little over kill on the shine. it might look good if you do just the sides and for wood for the bottom but i have a pic i will put it up in my gallery soon if it isn't in there already.

Holy cow!! I'll bet you need to be careful after that beauty sits in the sun for a bit. I sure does offset the flat black really well. Thats a really neat idea, Ive never seen it used as door panels before. I take it that the door latches are electric? Thats pretty smooth to shave the door handles on the inside and the outside
You might also try a Trailer sales company. When I bought my Enclosed car trailer, I had diamond plate strips installed for the Tires of my race car to ride on and I had the rear tail gate diamond plated. This was done several years ago & I don't remember the cost, other than it wasn't cheap.
I presently have a metal "daimond plate" like sheet which covers the bed floor in ht 56 F-100.

Yes, I'm running electric door poppers and an "emergency" cable to the latch. It does get hot. Between the engine being sandwiched against my firewall, the routing of my exhaust (crossover, muffs and such), and the diamondplate.....black paint job. It's more than I bargained for Oh, well. It's not a daily driver, or I would have done something different.
Fish,
I don't know, the diamond plate bed strips could throw quite a glare unless you went with a tonneau cover and took it off to show it or whatever. I think driving on a sunny day could through a nasty reflection into the cab. However, come to think of it, I had a diamondplate tool box in my 4x4 and it wasn't too bad. A metal shop should be able to bend up whatever you need.
