It was raining here in NY for over a week. Ever since then there's a mildew smell coming from somewhere in my truck - I can mostly smell it when the vents are off. I mostly notice it when I'm driving over 40mph. Is this a known problem?
I have seen a couple SD's at the dealer with mildew problems after hard rain... one had a leaky windshield, the other some AC/Heat fresh air intake problem. Apparently difficult to find for the tech, but there was definitely moisture under the carpet, it doesn't take much.
Have you tracked alot of water into your truck during the rain? If so maybe you can crack your windows over night to dry it out, that is if you can fit you truck into a garage. I have been considering putting some floor mats in mine to catch any water coming off my boots during the rainy season. You can try some Febreze to help eliminate the smell. Hopefully you don't have any kind of window or door seal leak. Good luck.
I have the Ford all weather rubber mats and I keep my windows open a bit to air it out because I have rain guards. Nothing's wet anywhere under the dashboard at all. My friend was mentioning something about a pollen filter? I don't know if the SD have that. I dunno if moisture got in the vents or something. It's driving me crazy though. I think I'll just bring it to Ford. Thanks for all your help though
The smell is coming from your air conditioning vents. Most of the guys from down in the southern states could relate to this problem. An in cab filter can be changed . Not sure if this helps but something for your dealer to consider.
For what I understand the SD's don't come with a cab filter from the factory, but there is a provision to put one in after delivery. If this is not true please let me know. Maxium you're right the musty smell is a big problem in the south I lived in ATL. for a bit & from running A/C all the time you got that smell real fast. Who knows with all the crazy weather we had had in the NYC area that could be the problem she has
