The PCV valve on the valve cover has a rubber seal where it goes into the valve cover, and the rubber is falling apart. Can I buy the seal somewhere. Do I need to buy the whole "PCV" valve.
The rubber is hardly sealing at all, and I'm pretty sure it's causing a vaccum leak. Could this be what's causing it to run poorly.
I went to autozone and told then that I needed a PCV valve and they told me that the truck doesnt have one. Am I calling it by the wrong name?
I'm also kicking around the idea of changing my O2 sensor, since I'm not the original owner, I'm not sure if the one that's in there is original. It's up to almost 160,000 so even if it was replaced once already it could probably use a new one again? How would one cost and what it take to change it?
Go over to the filter section, usually on the rack directly behind you as you look at the filters they have the PCV valves hanging. There should be a grommet or two hanging near by.
Yes get a new O2 sensor. And yes I believe they are smoking something, I'm pretty sure you do have a PCV valve. The guys at Autozone aren't the smartest though. Forget the grommet, just replace the whole thing, it won't hurt after all.
yeah i stoped going to autozone whe ni realized most workers there specailizne in neon and rice mufflers. i chose to go over to the rednecks at advance auto parts. they will give me what i need and tell me how cool it would be to have a superchanger in it. But its true my 87 ranger 2.9 had the same problem and i i think i picked up the gasket from advance but pvc valve is really cheep anyways. but advance does just have the gromet you looking for it won't come up on the comp but the product num is GV3 its called standerd motor products gromet. oh and check your pvc valve shake it and it makes a clicking noise then its still good luck.
