I got some 4inch front leaf springs made up for my 79 and the length eye to eye was out by 2inches but I figured it might still work, and when the load is on they almost sit right but my axel is still ahead an inch or too wich is making my driveshaft not reach, now as far as I know you shouldnt need to lengthen a driveshaft for a 4inch lift.....correct?
no ahead..like to the front of the fender because the axel is still at an angle liket his / towards the front of the truck not quitethat much but close
I just put 6" Skyjacker leafs on my '79 Supercab. When sitting level I see no splines on front driveshaft. At full flewhich isnt much) I just barley see the ends of the splines. By the way, how long are the splines, so I know how much I have to play with? Thanks, Mike
well the splines themselves arent sticking out but you can see the begining little notches or whatever, but when its pulled apart there are about 3 inches of spline to play with...I think my front springs jsut need to be bashed round to settle because I put new 4inch leaves in the back and it still sits about 1.5 to 2 inches lower, so its almost like they sent me a 6inch for the front.....but as for it setting my wheel ahead when you bounce on the front the leaves push back on impact so its almost liek tis right.....I'll have to see what it looksl iek with the 35s.
another thing that somewhat convinces me that its a 6inch in the front is that the front shocks dont even reach...like maxed all the way out you could jsut bolt it up, and with 33s from the top of the tire to the top of the fender is 12inches....my other truck with a 4inch is only about eight, granted it bagged a bit but still.
I didnt lengthen my driveshaft. At full flex I just barley see the ends of the splines...I have three inches more to play with. The only off road action this truck sees is the beach, which is pretty tame. It is my daily driver...100 miles or more a day. The space between my 35's and fender is 10.5" in front, 9" in rear.
