Post breath deeply

well recently i was going to install a costom cold air intake using 2 hood scoops on my 87 ranger 2.9. but i had a easier ideal that i am sure that will work better and i created a short ram intake that draw cold air directly through the grill in the front. But now i am stuck with 2 hood scoops. My qestion is if i installed these and opened them up to flow cold air on the engin would that cause alot of drag sense the air isn't being asorbed or will the air pass over the engin cooling it and flow under and out the back of my car. Also i have been woudering that if i have a direct flow intake where the filter is openly exsposed to the elements cold this casue problems when it rains and if so what can i do to prevent that? An mesh grill maybe? thx for you help. either way i will probly install the hood scoops for looks and just not open it up. thx everyone
