I have 00 F350 7.3 PSD. I have been kicking around an idea to modify the air flow through the hood. I am "thrifty" and don't want to purchase an after market hood. My thought was to add a scoop or maybe two. The question is about air intake vs air out.
1) Would it be better to face a scoop open to the rear (cab) and try to pull extra air through?
2) Or face the scoop open to the front (grill) and force the air in?
3) Last thought, two scoops, positioned in opposite directions. Use the air in idea over the filter house and use the air out idea on the other side.
Of course we are talking about functional scoops and stock hood. I am just seeing what opinions are.
they say cowl hoods (backwards) pull in more air than forward scoops. a cowl hood would let the heat out too. but i like the idea of getting two forward facing scoops in the middle with heat vents on the sides.
Good point. I will post pics of final outcome in a couple weeks. Independence day on a wed makes for a good weekend to work on the beast. Thanks for the feedback.
